Jason in Pavement issue 19 |
Jason has been a record buyer since aged 14, now he is currently Wellington's most well known DJ. Jason started out going to clubs for other reasons than the music. "Thought it would be a good way to score a root (it was). I also thought it would be a good way to get paid to play records and be able to walk out of a club
with cash in pocket instead of broke as a mutha-fucker like everyone else (it wasn't)."
Jason started radio deejaying on Radio Active in March 1988, and started club deejaying in May 1989 for Radio Active. He admits he didn't even know what beat mixing was. However, he learn't fast.
Assuming the moniker of Clinton Smiley, Jason's club CV includes : The Love Factory; Clares; The Sub Club; Naked Angel; Mas-If;
Juice; the Eden raves; Devotion 92, 96, 97; Deus 98, 99; Tatou; ESC; ESCape;

Clinton's DJ Philosophy : "I like buying new music + old music and playing it to people. I like getting ripped to the tits on drink + drugs. I am a deejay. QED."
