
Joost Langeveld

Joost is one of the leading proponents of New
Zealand's burgeoning electronic/dance music
scene. He is a Producer, a Musician, and a
programmer and is responsible for the
groundbreaking Algorhythm compilations of
local House music, released on the Kog
Transmissions label. He has gathered
production credits on a wide variety of
projects including Strawpeople and
Mark DeClive-Lowe and has produced and
released a steady stream of music under
many different monikers (Subware, triggerX,
mr.Reliable, ReactorMusic and Wriggler).
Joost started his musical career in the early
eighties as a bass player with acts as diverse
as NRA, Strawpeople, Greg Johnson, Jules
Issa and MC OJ and the Rhythm Slave. In
1988 Joost teamed up with Eddie Chambers
as Nemesis Dub Systems. They produced one
full-length album, "a Multitrack Situation"
1992 on Deepgrooves records, and
contributed tracks to several compilations.
Joost was involved with the first two
Deepgrooves compilation records, notching
up credits for both production skills and
musicianship. During this period he worked
DLT, Teremoana Rapley, Anthony Ioasa and
an early incarnation of Pitchblack.
From 1990 to 1996 Joost was the principal
songwriter and co-producer of Unitone HiFi.
Unitone HiFi released three full-length
albums, one mini album (all on German
music label iNCOMING! ) and plenty of single
track contributions on fine compilations.
Unitone garnered international acclaim for
producing excellent music, and in 1996
toured France, Germany, Belgium and
London.
Joost is a keen collaborator. Recent and
current partners in crime include Victoria
Kelly, Paul Casserly, Roger Perry, Jason
'Rockpig' Hall, Chelsea Warner, Greg
Churchill, Greg Johnson, Mark DeClive-Lowe,
Luke Tomes, Ben Harris, Greg Wood and
Troy Sugrue.
Joost has also created soundtracks for
filmmaker James Cunningham's animated films
Blinder and Infection and Casper Stracke's
Nach Wanyuscha film, and is currently collaborating
with Victoria Kelly on Glenn Standrings' horror film
The Irrefutable Truth About Demons.
