Joost Langeveld

Joost is one of the leading proponents of New Zealand's burgeoning electronic/dance music scene. He is a Producer, a Musician, and a programmer and is responsible for the groundbreaking Algorhythm compilations of local House music, released on the Kog Transmissions label. He has gathered production credits on a wide variety of projects including Strawpeople and Mark DeClive-Lowe and has produced and released a steady stream of music under many different monikers (Subware, triggerX, mr.Reliable, ReactorMusic and Wriggler).

Joost started his musical career in the early eighties as a bass player with acts as diverse as NRA, Strawpeople, Greg Johnson, Jules Issa and MC OJ and the Rhythm Slave. In 1988 Joost teamed up with Eddie Chambers as Nemesis Dub Systems. They produced one full-length album, "a Multitrack Situation" 1992 on Deepgrooves records, and contributed tracks to several compilations.

Joost was involved with the first two Deepgrooves compilation records, notching up credits for both production skills and musicianship. During this period he worked DLT, Teremoana Rapley, Anthony Ioasa and an early incarnation of Pitchblack.

From 1990 to 1996 Joost was the principal songwriter and co-producer of Unitone HiFi. Unitone HiFi released three full-length albums, one mini album (all on German music label iNCOMING! ) and plenty of single track contributions on fine compilations. Unitone garnered international acclaim for producing excellent music, and in 1996 toured France, Germany, Belgium and London.

Joost is a keen collaborator. Recent and current partners in crime include Victoria Kelly, Paul Casserly, Roger Perry, Jason 'Rockpig' Hall, Chelsea Warner, Greg Churchill, Greg Johnson, Mark DeClive-Lowe, Luke Tomes, Ben Harris, Greg Wood and Troy Sugrue.

Joost has also created soundtracks for filmmaker James Cunningham's animated films Blinder and Infection and Casper Stracke's Nach Wanyuscha film, and is currently collaborating with Victoria Kelly on Glenn Standrings' horror film The Irrefutable Truth About Demons.

Joost is dedicated to exploring new routes to produce interesting music. A detailed discography can be found at http://www.volvox.co.nz/disco
